Since its launch in 2010, the Mahindra Thar has been available only with a three-door design. However, we are aware that the manufacturer is currently working on a 5-door version of the lifestyle SUV in order to improve its practicality and attract more customers। Each time, test mules of the Thar 5-door continue to be spied, covering themselves in camouflage, yet revealing one or more details।
The Mahindra Thar 5-door test mule has been spied again, this time showing its new LED headlights। Although the three-door Thar has halogen headlamps, this test mule of the Thar 5-door has LED units with ring-shaped DRLs। The alloy wheel design is a bit different from the Thar 3-door one।
The SUV with five doors is most likely only equipped with a hard-top, in contrast to its three-door version, which is also equipped with a convertible soft-top option। Test mules with a lot of new features have been captured over the regular Thar. This is probably why the 5-door Thar will clearly be ahead of the 3-door Thar in Mahindra's lineup। Additional features such as a new headliner, front armrest, sunglass holder, and even an electric sunroof on the three-door Thar have all been shown in previous prototypes।
हालाँकि, the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door will likely be available with the same 2.2-litre diesel (128 hp) and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (150 hp) engine options, both with manual and automatic transmissions। In addition, the SUV with five doors is likely to have a 4x2 and 4x4 configuration option। Currently, the three-door Thar ranges from Rs 10.98 lakh to Rs 16.94 lakh (ex-showroom), while the five-door version will cost more.
